I know there were some good ones on Live and Let Die. Pierce Brosnan was good too, I need to look some up. I have scenes in my mind that stand out. I always loved that there was this anticipation about, "Ok, how is he getting out of this one?" I need to look some up. There are some Bond movies that I can watch over and over but then there are others that I've only seen once or twice. They are really fun movies though.Michael Lynn P.https://www.blogger.com/profile/03371185397200027726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4132358890134520474.post-67164888166163639592013-06-30T11:30:45.830-05:002013-06-30T11:30:45.830-05:00You are a writer, so like me you HAVE to gauge how...You are a writer, so like me you HAVE to gauge how much you dig a Bond Film by how well written the quips are.So, let's hear it miss M. What are your favorite Bond quips?
Mine are: Connery: to random person in Thunderball: "Do you mind if my friend sits this one out? She's just dead."
Roger Moore: Bond to Drax in Moonraker: "Heart Broken Mr. Drax." (if you know how the movie ends you get why that is cool)
and, of course Mr. Brosnan in the World is Not Enough: Bad girl says "you can't kill me! You'd miss me!" (Bond shoots and dusts her ass) "I never miss."
honorable mention from that movie: Bad girl: "I could give you the world."
Bond: "The World is not enough."
Bad Girl: "foolish sentiment."
Bond:"Family motto"Nick Moosenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4132358890134520474.post-64790919764923323822013-06-29T18:07:13.229-05:002013-06-29T18:07:13.229-05:00I know what you mean, the Roger Moore era was my f...I know what you mean, the Roger Moore era was my favorite Bond era too. I love far out there villains. Plus for me, when I was little James Bond was in between Bonds. Like the Roger Moore era was still chugging along and Timothy Dalton was slowly coming on ot the scene, but I grew up watching the Roger Moore Bond films the most. I do like a bit of both when it comes to the story, and I feel like this latest Bond film sort of tries to capture that. The villain in this last one has traces of the fabled Bond villains, but there are certain things I did not like about the latest one either. Quantom of solace was just a strange film.

I do like the fun aspects of Bond films though. I don't know that we will ever go back to that time though. I think people really like the super serious stuff. But I think there can be a nice balance, because a lot of people were turned off from the all the grit and stuff from QoS. I think it can be done. Oh, and I did enjoy Pierce Brosnan as Bond too. Goldeneye was a fun Bond movie. I know, I know they are closer to the Ian Flemming novels- but the Bond film series is it's own thing. Similarly, I love the Vampire Diaries TV show but I doubt I would like the books, because they are so different. I mean, that happens with all kinds of properties-where the movie is so different that the books become almost unrelated and irrelevant. Look at Dracula and Frankenstein-did Bram Stoker and Mary Shelly really define those stories for us a culture? No, Universal Pictures did. Sometimes, the movies are just better.
And this is how I feel about Bond. I could barely get through all of the book "Casino Royal" -it was just- where are the puns? Where the gadgets? This is...boring!
Now I saw the first Daniel Craig movie, thought it was OK at best, but the second one..that "Quantum of Solace" which basically turned Bond into a Jason Vorhees style serial killer ..was so grim and gritty, and put me off so much, that I didn't even bother to see the most recent one. Although I hear it was better.
I actually liked the Pierce Brosnon era! It was campy still and there were great pithy lines. Everyone loves Connery and so do I, but my favorite will always be the Roger Moore era. I even like Moonraker for gods sake! Lets bring back the camp and fun in Bond and forget all this realism.
As far as Bond girls, hmmm..my favorite is either Barbera Bach(Spy Who Loved Me) or Claudine Auger (Thunderball)
As for Jayne Seymore-even though Live and Let Die is one of my favorite entries in the series, I could never get past the fact that she was Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman!
Oh..and for the next Bond film, if they take my advice and go full on camp, they better bring back JAWS!
