I want you to hear my confession...

... I want to be your obsession, this time, this time...

Ok I have that Sky Ferreira song Obsession in my head because I've been thinking about an all new topic for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers! The League has returned better than ever and the latest topic is all about "My Latest Obsession."

For those just tuning in, the League of Extraordinary Bloggers is a group of bloggers that get together and write about a weekly topic that is posted by Brian over at Cool and Collected. The League went on a brief hiatus during the holidays and now that it feels like we've all settled into the new year (are we ever really settled?) I thought it would be super fun to add to the list of everyone's obsessions. Click the link below to find out what my obsessions is, this time, this time...

I obsess over things a lot. It's actually a dangerous word to use in association with me. Once I get on a roll there is no stopping my madness. For example I was obsessed with a line of Novi Star dolls that went on sale real cheap at Target, but the Target by my house had nothing but wonky eyed dolls with messy paint applications. I refused to pay four dollars for a wonky eyed doll with lips painted off to the side. So I did what any unhinged collector would do, I traveled to every Target store in the area until I found the dolls that looked close enough to the packaging to satiate my collecting quirk. Needless to say I get obsessed over some stuff. (Don't worry, I do not require mental help. I am a therapist, so we're good.)

Anyways, when it comes to the here and now I do have a current obsession that is beyond the beyond for me. Revitalizing the Archival Room, or as I now call it, the Archival Room 2.0! When I was married and living with my husband I had a room that was called the Archival Room. It contained everything I collected and was essentially the inside of my brain filled with memories and all kinds of stories waiting to be told. After my husband and I decided to end things, I had the long arduous task of packing everything up and moving back in with my parents. Hilarity ensued. Actually some chaos also ensued, but lately things have been going along really great. My brother put it best when he said, "Your mini nervous breakdown was right out of an episode from one of the Real Housewives from Bravo series."

I was given the loft as my new room and luckily my parents gave me free reign. (The loft had actually become a bit of wasted space waiting for the perfect project.) So with the help of two amazing friends (thank you Patrick and David!) and a number of months later, I have now begun formulating the Archival Room 2.0 and it is my current obsession. I have no idea how long it will take me to afford living on my own, but in the mean time I am making the best out of this situation with living back with my parents. I could keep everything locked up, but I'm not that girl. I have items that need to breathe. I have displays that need to be set up for more mayhem on Diary of a Dorkette. There just can't be any stopping the Archival Room 2.0. Actually this latest obsession has helped keep me busy with not focusing on the fact that I could not make my marriage work no matter how hard I tried. It's kinda working.

With that said, don't cry for me Etheria! I'm bouncing back and I have a wonderful support group rallying around me. And I've got my latest obsession! Here are some photos for a glimpse of what is unfolding. Or is it unpacking?

A sliver of all my dolls. Everything is mismatched for now until I can really get it set up properly.

A bit of a hodge podge mess, but so was the move.

Even Velvet Sky made the cut to the new Archival Room. Let's hope she doesn't kill me in my sleep.

The glorious Simpsons. I loved this line by Playmates so much.

More goodies. And a Novi Star!

Now that I've shared my obsession, let's check out what everyone else is obsessed with.

  1. Nice shelves, they make for good setup's. When you get it situated I highly recommend putting Pizzazz up high--you have a dog right? So, you know...

I'd also feature your favorites like Crystal Castle and Falls, in all their glory. I tell people, look at what you are setting up and put out what makes you the most happy. Always protect the pieces that are most valuable and enjoy it when its done.

    ...just...don't forget the dusting issue...LOL!!!

Great collection, you need to do a Simpsons article, I didn't know you had so many--they are pretty much a vintage toy by now and would make a great theme.

    1. Hey Paladin! I do have a dog part time. But the room is only accessible via a staircase and the dog can't get up there, so Pizzazz is safe. I mostly just wanted to get everything out, I am not sure what the finished project will look like.

A Simpsons article would be pretty nice. I spent a lot of time collecting that line when it came out. I couldn't finish it because it was just too much. I am hoping once it is all ready to go it will be a great display. I have so much to do still though. And yeah. Dusting. lol So not looking forward to that. lol

  2. Wow. I knew you had a lot of toys based on what I'd seen in yourposts, but apparently that was just the tip of the iceberg!

I especially love your line "I don't need any help, I'm a therapist".

Do you any of your friends ask to come up to your room and play with your toys? I know I'd want to come over just to see what story you were making up that involved Nightmare Moon on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise.

    1. Hey Erik! You are correct, this is just the tip of the iceberg. lol It is a lot.

And I do have some friends that love coming over and looking at everything. One time my friends Patrick and David came over and we tried to rebuild all my old vintage Lego sets. It was so much fun.

And Nightmare Moon on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise would make for an amazing story wouldn't it? There are just all kinds of stories waiting to be told! I hope you have been doing well.

  3. I want you as a therapist! Only because, I know, you could never, ever therapize me! I would spend the entire time talking with you about toys and/or flirting with you. I have broken therapists in the past-well not really, I didn't "break" them as therapists, but I think I made them know they could not help me. Mostly because, I already know anything they can figure out about me. My favorite moment was when one of them thought it was some big revelation that my mom screwed me up by being over protective! Like ..DUH!! Anyway, we can probably both relate to the overprotective parent thing, since we both had medical issues as kids.
That collection room looks really good. At my mom's house I have a PEZ dispenser display, but not any of my other toys displayed. At my apartment, I have nothing displayed toy wise, just a bunch of vinatage punk and ska posters on the wall, and some movie posters and one sheets, like I have a good one for "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill" and a good one for "King Kong vs. Godzilla" but I haven't tried to display my toys in my latest apartment. I had a bunch of MOTU guys set up in my room of my first apartment, where I lived with a couple other guys, but none in the single apartment I am in now.
speaking of living arrangements, if you are back on the payroll as a therapist, you should be able to afford a nice lil' apartment for yourself now. Though, maybe it's best to stay at home for awhile,as it is always good to have a support system.

    1. Well I don't like therapizing people at all. I tend to think therapy works for those who want it to work or are wanting to work on something. I think if someone does not want to be there it just won't be good. So yeah, I don't do the whole therapizing thing. lol Which might be why I'm not super successful as a therapist. lol

The job is good, but it is only part time. With the part time at Macys, I am a little ways off from moving out on my own. There are also some things I need to get in order, but I also like having a support system with me.

And it sounds like your apartment is cool with all the posters and stuff. That is so cool. I like the one sheets you mentioned of Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill and King Kong Vs. Godzilla?! They just don't make movies like that anymore. Hopefully you will get to display your toys at some point. I bet you have a cool MOTU collection. I hope things have been going well.

  4. I've been reading since last summer, but this is my first time commenting. Monster High is one of my favorite things ever, so I had to say something! But now I can't think of something to say. Oh dear. Oh, I know! You've got Cupid AND Nefera. You need to humble brag that fact, ya' silly goose :^)

    1. Hey Robot! Well I must say I am very glad you left a comment and have been reading for awhile! It is very interesting because I do a similar thing. There will be times when I will read a blog for awhile and not really comment, I don't know why I do that, but I sometimes do.

So let's talk MH. That is one of my favorite things too. I love that line so much. And Nefera is a very interesting doll. They'd only made the one version of her. I keep waiting for another release. She is one of my favorites. I thank you again for commenting and I hope that you keep reading and enjoying. Take care!

    1. Hey Kal! There is a lot to treasure! Sometimes I feel really bad for having so much stuff. But I don't always hold onto everything. I do love the MH section. They are such fun dolls. I hope you have been doing well!

  8. I love how your superheroes are slowly invading Eternian territory with most of them sitting at the farthest side of the shelf waiting for "new recruits" while Emma and the Black Cat are sort of in a spy mission.

Also, I like the Simpsons setup. I think they're the most fun to look at inside your Archival Room... 2.0. And the entire collection is impressive.

I believe all these "changes" that's happening (or have happened) seem to double the intensity of your dorkiness... based from what I'm seeing here. Perhaps it's not the room that got a better version and that it is merely a reflection.

    1. lol The superheroes are going to be invading even more very soon! I have some bins that have not been unloaded yet. lol It is a lot to go through. I also love placing things in different areas, like with Emma and Black Cat on their spy missions. lol

I do feel like with all these changes that have happened, that I am able to let go and really get to go back ot who I am and celebrating me. It is a nice thing out of a lot of sadness. Thanks so much for the comment and I hope you are doing great!

    1. You are so right! It just became too much to collect that Simpsons line. There was so much. But I do feel like it was one of the best toy lines ever. Thanks for the comment!

  10. I was perusing your photos and could spy a couple of figures I have too: Doctor Blight from the Bionic Six and April O' Neal in her white an red Samurai Clothes :D :D :D

    1. Dr. Blight is such a fun figure. I adore that figure very much. And that April O'Neil figure is one of my favorites. I remember that movie coming out around my birthday and I asked for pretty much all of the figures from that series as my birthday present. I didn't get them all, but I got most of them. It was a great birthday!

  11. I knew you had a nice collection Miss m but seeing it those pictures shows what a really true toy lover you are. and don't worry no doubt in time you will have the archive restored. but you really should ask yourself do you really want to go through all the time it is going to take to move every thing to their future home in the archives not to mention must take you a long time to dust. plus all the batteries you will someday need to replace like in the simpson's buildings you have.

    1. Thank you so much for this demoncat. I do love toys. And there is a lot to go through! So I have to go through things to see what I want and what I don't want. Some of the stuff goes through cycles, where I will no longer want something. That will end up happening at some point I'm sure, because it is a lot to keep up with. It's always nice to hear from you!
