Bits and Pieces! Wave 5

Another quick edition of Bits and Pieces is here. I had actually planned to write about something else, but due to one reader and one website, I have some fun news to talk about.

A Doll is Born

The first wave of Jem dolls are out for pre-order! This was very interesting, because I am the kinda girl that likes information. I love toy companies that send out nice shiny press releases and dates for folks to know when it is time to get a sneak peek or when to start expecting pre-order or sale dates. Integrity Toys (the company responsible for bringing the dolls back) completely snuck this information under every bodies radar. Thanks to the wonderful folks on Jemcon.org, I was able to find out about the new wave.

So let's check out some images of the new Jem dolls from the first wave-

Classic Jem

 Jerrica Benton

 Synergy

 Rio

Ok so first thoughts are this: these dolls are simply amazing. They are stunning and come with some really well crafted accessories. To view more from this first wave check out new Jem doll website to check out some gorgeous and stunning pictures. I am loving this line, aside from some minor plot points. First of all the price point is $119 per doll. Now I get why that price is there, because this is a collector line. There is a lot of thought and detail put into the line. Would I prefer them to be cheaper? Yes, of course I would. But I do get it, even if I don't completely like it. I also think that part of the price is that there are four dolls in the first wave. It is a lot to deal with at first, but with such a diverse first wave it might be easy to pick and choose.

My other point of interest for these dolls is availability. These dolls are selling pre-orders like hot cakes at the McDonald's drive thru at 5:30 am. Folks are hungry for Jem dolls, fans everywhere have been demanding a return to Jem for a long while. I think Hasbro and Integrity are both aware of this. So the numbers for the dolls are high, Classic Jem is marked at a 1,000 for production. The numbers for the other dolls are slightly lower. So that is good, however, the one sore spot is that not everyone is familiar with buying from Integrity Toys. They are a collector based company and for some of their lines, buyers have to purchase their dolls from Integrity dealers.

My issue with that is that not everyone knows the ends and outs of that. So I hope that Integrity realizes what a hot commodity they have with Jem and hopefully they can do a bit more marketing for the line. Let fans know when to expect teaser photos of upcoming lines. Or give fans a heads up when to expect pre-order dates. I won't lie, for awhile I was checking the new Jem doll website, but after awhile I stopped checking religiously. So I hope some things can change on that. (I'm spoiled from other collector lines.)

Anyways, there is still so much to celebrate though with these new dolls. They simply look stunning and I cannot wait to see what the Misfits will look like. I am dying to see a new updated Pizzazz. So check out the new dolls and here is the list of Integrity Dealers, go through the list to see if any of the sellers have any more dolls for pre-order. Also for all things Jem, please join Jemcon.org, a truly wonderful site with kind and awesome Jem fans that talk about all manners of Jem and other truly outrageous topics!

POP! Goes the Universe

And just like that, the big bang theory rattled the universe in such a way, that nothing was ever the same. Thank goodness for my readers for always keeping me in-the-know. Courtesy of a comment from faithful reader Nastyroker, I found out some amazing news. The adorable POP! line consisting of vinyl characters from Funko will be releasing a Masters of the Universe wave!

What a wave! Spikor and a Filmation Hordak? Plus She-Ra? Sign a dorkette up now! I love that Funko is releasing some MOTU product, and with such a diverse first wave too! I am surprised to see Spikor, Hordak, and She-Ra in this first line up. I mean She-Ra! It is so refreshing to see She-Ra get some love. And since Spikor is added to the mix, I can only hope that Funko will release some other lesser known characters with future waves.

With a Little Mermaid Ariel already released in POP! form, I think Funko would do wise to make a POP! Mermista and keep that mermaid sculpt going for all it's worth! I would just flip out like never before. Anyways, for more updates on the MOTU POP! line, check out He-Man.org for further details. I am not sure when these will be released, but He-Man.org will be the place to go.

So that is about it for some new Bits and Pieces. There are some wonderful things going on right now in the world of toys. I can't wait to see what happens next!

    1. I know! Synergy looks so cool! The price is a bit much. I doubt I will get most of them, but I do hope to get at least one. They look too cool! And thank you for giving me the heads up on the POP! stuff. I never know these things anymore! lol

  3. those he-men funko things look like what the motu would be as animated muppet babies. including hordak. and love that jem is back but surprised to see Synergy in the first wave when thought like the original line she would come down the road not to mention no holograms or at least Pizzazz to balance things out plus guess this means once again Synergy does not get to be the playset for the line.

  4. I think Spikor is the Crown jewel of the set. I don't know why it would be so shocking to have a She-ra, she is well known, but if we get any of the other POP girls I will think that's shockingly awesome.
Why did they decide on a Filmation design for Hordak? it is cuter and more appropriate for the big head lil body design-I like that choice. For some reason I think a little Snout Spout would be good for this line. He would look cute with a big head.
Now I still haven't seen Jem, but there is a character named Rio? Is he supposed to be like a "new-romantic" band guy like Simon Lebon from Duran Duran? The funny thing is the song Rio is about a girl! not a guy. And she dances in the sand.

    1. Well I think the reason that She-Ra being included is so shocking, is that most new lines that pop up with He-man in it, do not usually have She-Ra involved. There are a couple of things that Mattel has tried to start like with mini He-Man figures and what-not, and She-Ra is never to be seen. So for Funko to have She-Ra in the beginning, to me, is just a shock, but in a good way. I think Funko is being very smart by that because for me it is hard to have something with He-Man but not She-Ra. I mean She-Ra and he-man just go together. And a Snout Sprout would be awesome! i would love that.

There was a character named Rio, he was the love interest of Jerrica Benton (Jem's alter ego) while also being a love interest for Jem too. He was the Holograms road manager and engineer. I don't think he was named after anything having to do with Duran Duran, but since the song and his name were used around the same time, there is a similarity. But that is about it.

  5. I've always looked at the pop figurines and never cared for them, but the She-Ra pop is actually nice and I'd consider picking that up. Skeletor is cool, but I'm not sure if I'd get it. I'm surprised that Masters of the Universe would get into something like that because its just a collectors line, so I give them credit for making them into weird little things.

As much as I like the Jem dolls, I'm keeping myself from being too excited because the cost of one can keep the lights running. However, when and if they make Clash, I'm going to get her even if I have to sit in the dark for a while! I hope that she is made at least close to the original, same accessories and maybe, just maybe, they'll copy the box art and not make it like Hollywood Jem where it was pretty plain. One can hope...

    1. Well the one bad thing I have to say about the POP! line is that some paint applications can look really messy. But I am glad to see them branching out with MOTU, because Mattel has been trying to do a little side line with a more stylized MOTU product for awhile now, but nothing has gone past the prototype phase. So I am really glad that Funko is taking that realm over.

And the price is hard to swallow for the new Jem dolls. I know i won't be able to get them, but I am going to try to get some. Like Pizazz. And I really hope you get a Clash, I am only imagining her looking amazing. These dolls really do look so good. I am not sure if they will use the same box art from the plain SDCC Hollywood jem or if the new wave will have boxes that really take a page from the old line. I am hoping the boxes will be different nd look more like the past. But like you said, one can hope.

  6. I wanted to get the Jem doll, I couldn't believe the pre-orders sold out in like a day, if I had known ahead of time, I would've ordered one, I can see a bunch of people selling them on ebay for tons of money! :S

    1. Well don't lose hope Sarah! Because I believe that there will be a store in Canada that will actually be selling them in the store. I was reading this on the jemcon.org website. I will go back and get some more information and let you know. Also there still may be some other dealers and stores that have preorders for the classic Jem. If anything, they will more than likely have other Jem variants. I mean I can't imagine they wouldn't have a Hollywood Jem or Rock 'n Curl Jem or something!

Becuase I am with ya, the prices for these dolls on ebay will be out of control.

  7. The New Jem dolls are gonna be so rockin'! I LOVE how they totally captured the boxart look of Jem and Jerrica. In a way, I do wish they'd kept the boxart/doll outfits for Rio and Synergy rather than switching back to the cartoon look for them. But Rio is such a babe, I don't mind that he isn't wearing pinstripes. And he has a waaaatch!!! *sigh!* I'm getting them all, but I'm die hard for Jem. It's kinda like Miss M with She-Ra for me. Great writeup on the new line!

    1. Ya know MM, I know the old line is amazing and it will always be awesome, but I really love these new dolls. It is like they took everything that was great about the old ones, and made them in perfect harmony with the cartoon and a nice cool update. Rio looks so good lookin! I mean Bow needs to move over, there is a new crush in town! lol And I get you, I know how much you love Jem. I am truly happy that you and every other Jem fan is getting these dolls. I'm happy too, because I now get to finally have some Jem dolls! After all my mistakes, I am gonna make it right. lol
