Supporting the West Family

First thing's first, check out the link below to learn more about how you can help support fellow blogger William Bruce West whose family is in need of your support.

West Family GoFundMe

I've known Will for many years now. At one time there was a large thriving blogging community, and we all connected through our writing and love of nerdy pop culture. Will's voice was one I loved being able to read, his opinions on pop culture have faithfully been shared week after week with his West Week Ever blog. We've appeared on podcasts together. We've shared each other's work, and commented on a variety of topics. But one thing that has always stood out to me has been his love for his family. I am always a fan of seeing friends basking in love and becoming parents and just all of that good stuff. I've loved hearing his musings and seeing him continue growing and leaning into his role as a husband and dad over the years and watching his family grow. I've never met them in person, but it has been a joy to witness their lived experiences over the years.

I'm also incredibly grateful for how he has supported me. Back in 2019 I opened up about being trans. I was very nervous and knew there would be people who would want nothing to do with me. I mean for years prior I had never denied but also never confirmed I was trans, I was living stealth so to speak. But coming out was something that would either bring me closer to people or shatter years worth of relationships. At that time, Will was speaking with other members of our blogging community behind the scenes rallying support in case people wanted to be cruel towards me. I would learn this many years later, but it just shows the kind of character that Will has.

So when I heard this news, and the need that the West family has right now, it was incredibly easy to do what I can. I also hope that you can donate as well. If not, at least sharing the Go Fund Me with others and offering encouraging words is important too.

My heart goes out to the West family, I am sending so much love and light for Will's recovery and that his family is able to receive all the support they possibly can.
