December 2014 Woman of Wonderosity: Oh Christ. It's Another Christmas Special

Dear Diary,

It's Christmas. Ba-hum-bug. Velvet Sky is free to do whatever she wants. Michelangelo and Mona Lisa are happily married. I hate my best friend April O'Neil. I am just over the holidays. I want nothing to do with Christmas. It's all just lame. That's all. Oh. And I was suppose to interview someone for the Woman of Wonderosity spot for December, but that's totally not happening. I'm vegging out and drinking tons of Dr. Pepper. That's my Christmas gift to you.

December 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary:

I don't understand how long it has to take to convict a wrestler of multiple crimes that practically have her finger prints over everything. Velvet Sky is on the verge of paying for her crimes and I am ready. She has messed with the wrong dorky girl. In fact, if She-Hulk can't move this trial along, I might have to take matters into my own hands...

December 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

As 2014 winds down, and what a wind down it has been, I am finding myself in a mood. I'm no longer friends with my best friend. The holidays are here and I am just over them. The man I love married someone else. However it's not all bad. I'm back in my old body. I have a new pet dog. And I'm getting ready to help put Velvet Sky away for a very long time for taking away my life. She won't be getting away with her crimes! At all!

The third and final episode from the first season of the newly rebooted Rainbow Brite series on Feeln has been available and there is just too much to say, so click the link and learn why you need to start watching this show. Like, yesterday.

November 2014 Woman of Wonderosity

Dear Diary,

I just crashed a wedding. I don't even know how I am able to write this diary entry right now, but I'm making it real quick. I have returned to my original body and come back to Earth just in time to reunite with my love, Michelangelo. Only he is getting ready to marry Mona Lisa, who should actually be with Raphael, but this is like one of those alternate toy universes that has nothing to do with the original source material, it's just a lovingly fun lil tribute for all that is great and dorky. I should get going though, everyone is staring at me right now...

November 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary:

I'm doing my best to teach Maleficent the ABC's of kindness. It's kind of working. I just want to finish these lessons and find my way back home. I have so many people that I need to reconnect with, especially my love Michelangelo. Now I have my fingers crossed for so much. I can feel it, I will be leaving the After Life soon. I just hope my return to Earth won't be too late. I don't know how long I've been gone. What if everyone is all old and moldy? Time can be a funny thing ya know? There's no telling what I'll be coming back to.

After Dark: Clink! Clink!

Previously on After Dark- Bow had a grand opening bash for April O'Neil on Halloween at his new hot spot bar called Bow's Place. Drama unfolded as Glimmer began using a new party drug called Plastic from Dr. Badvibes. She-Ra fought for her relationship with Bow, but he wanted nothing to do with her and instead flirted with Cheetara. Sydney Rutledge reunited with old friend Gloria "Glory" Booth and even threw some shade at frenemy Mila Rosnovsky before getting a scary prank call from a stalker! The Cat Ladies worked together to get the police to question Mila about her sister Velvet Sky's whereabouts, and a rigged explosion rocked everyone's life as the Cat Ladies lost one of their own and Mermista was gravely injured. In order to truly enjoy the drama, please be sure to check out the November 2014 Bodacious Baddie first, right here.

And now, After Dark continues!

November 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

So, I'm in the freakin After Life. Again. I've finally made it back to my body, but now I am trying to teach Maleficent how to be kind. What sort of cruel joke is this? I've got people to reunite with on Earth! Where I belong. Not in this nightmare that has gone on all freaking year! Someone help me!

October 2014 Woman of Wonderosity!

Dear Diary,

Well. Let's see. Michelangelo and Mona Lisa are getting married. Next month. That's totally random. I also slept with Batman, which might be even more random. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's because my mind has melded forces with Moth Lady and I just lost all sense of control. Or something. I freakin slept with Batman. Who does sleeps with Batman? Except like Ms. Vale or Catwoman. I mean I have a really tacky facial tattoo. That just was not supposed to happen. It doesn't matter though. I've got bigger things to worry about. I'm trying to help the Cat Ladies solve a crime. Velvet Sky killed me nearly a year ago. No one can find her but she needs to pay for her crimes. I'm also helping April find dirt on Mila Rosnovsky so that April can get back her job and office. Oh, April is also having a really cool Halloween party at Bow's new bar. Except the invitation said no costumes, so I'm really confused as to why she is even having a Halloween party. Oh well, I need to get back to work. Later Diary!

October 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

What do I do? I'm waiting on my brand spanking new makeover and for what? Freakin Mona Lisa is getting her hair did too for her big date with Michelangelo. He just happens to be the love of my life. Not hers! Argh. What's a girl to do while trapped in the wrong body? I can't give up though. I did not go through all this drama during this past year to wind up alone and bitter with crimped hair. Oh no. I'm gonna get what I want. I'm gonna get my man and the rest will be history.

October 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary,

Life is actually pretty good. In some ways I've been able to enjoy the life I had in my old body, while being in this new body. I have my old job back. I'm trying to find a way to make Velvet Sky pay for her crimes. April and I have been growing a new friendship all over again. I'm even becoming friends with Michelangelo. It sucks that I'm still, I repeat still, in the wrong damn body, but we can't always get what we want. I've made peace with my new look. In some ways I feel like I am kindred spirits with Psylocke. Except I have wings and I'm not a ninja. Or mutant. Or maybe I am. Maybe my wings and crimped hair are a mutation of the homo superior variety. I also communicate with bugs. Clearly there is some sort of mutation situation going on with Moth Lady.

None of that matters though. I'm going to get Michelangelo back. That's right Diary. I don't care that he has moved on with Mona Lisa. She's a sweet lizard girl and all, but no one can hold a torch to the sweetest dorkette around. We've been meeting up at the dog park lately bonding over Chewie, the dog he bought for me as a gift that I never got... On account of the whole dying thing. It's all good. I'm gonna find my way back into his heart. Everything is comin' up Miss M!

September 2014 Woman of Wonderosity!

Dear Diary,

I'm in trouble. I really should have stayed in Bruce Wayne's mansion. While moving back to Moth Lady's home under the bridge, some of her old friends found me. They have no idea that I am inside Moth Lady's body, so they think their old friend is still there. The problem is I absorbed Moth Lady's memories thanks to Jean Grey, and now I am in control of Moth Lady's body. So this Dragon Queen and her accomplice have asked me to do something terrible. They want me to kill She-Ra. Yes, She-Ra. One of my ultimate role models. How in the world do I kill She-Ra?

Are You My Mother?

Recently the Masters of the Universe Classics line was up for renewal for the 2015 subscription. The sub barely made it, so Mattel reopened the sub during August 22nd through the 25th to fully reach 100% in sales. So fans rallied together to spread the word and celebrate the awesomeness that is the MOTUC line. The All American from He-Man.org had spread the word for everyone to tweet and Instagram MOTUC with the #SaveHeMan in connection to any photos or positive phrases regarding one of the best toy lines ever made. I wanted to participate with some fun photos that I posted on various forms of social media. Now I have decided to talk about them here, so click the link to read more!

September 2014: Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

Well, Total Darkness is over. I thought that crap would never end. My goodness! The world seems to be going back to normal though. I'm still stuck in the body of Moth Lady, a villain from the 80's. Michelangelo is smitten with Mona Lisa and has no intention of even realizing that I am the one and only Miss M. I've been avoiding Batman, which sucks because I kinda live at his mansion. Or Bruce Wayne's mansion. Or whatever the politically correct name is. Having a secret super hero identity has got to be exhausting. I don't even know how they all do it. Like, no matter how hard I try to reveal my true self, no one cares. Yet somehow Bruce Wayne dons a dingy looking suit with a cape he washes with Woolite for dark colors, and all of a sudden he has to keep things a secret? Like, why? He doesn't even have a girlfriend who would be put in danger. Oh I digress Diary.

I'm just glad Splinter is safe and sound. He is alive, so I can't complain. And hey, I might actually have a new job! Well, it's my old job. I got a call from April O'Neil and she asked for me to stop by my former house to visit with her. She said something about needing help at the Diary of a Dorkette office. Isn't it funny how things can come full circle? I guess.

See ya!

Dorkette Book Club: Spooky house, twin sisters, and a sewer...

Let's talk books. I love to read. Nothing too educational or "smart" just the good fluff stuff. I mean if I could live on Fear Street I would. Luckily I'm too old to be a casualty, but I'm young enough to warn the teens about the perils of killer best friends and the scariness of new girls or new boys; to say nothing of evil cheerleaders or stepsisters. So let's check out some fun books, brought to us by my friend Sarah.

Total Darkness Conclusion: August 2014 Woman of Wonderosity!

Dear Diary:

Oh the tangled webs we weave. And not the kind that rests on Entrapta's head. The world is in trouble. Score one for the good guys though, because we got power running again in the city! Granted, it took electrocuting Megatron with a lightning Gremlin to get things going, but what does it matter? Good prevailed. Now I'm just heading to my old house that I lived in when I was alive in my old body. I really want to be back in my old body. This whole sharing space with someone else is for crap. Moth Lady's hair is crimped. And I mean crimped! No amount of deep conditioning is going to give me good hair. Ever. That's not why I want to go back to my old body though. I miss my old life. I miss Michelangelo. I know he is moving on with Mona Lisa, but that doesn't matter! Once he sees me, sees that I am alive, well... We'll fall into each others arms and we can go back to the way things were. Before I was murdered by Velvet Sky. When is she going to pay for her crimes? That's what I want to know. Oh well, it doesn't matter. I've got to go Diary. I'm about to be in my old house. I hope the Turtles have been taking care of the place in my sort of non-deathly absence.

Total Darkness: August 2014 Heroic Hottie!

While the After Life and Earth struggle with the chaos of Total Darkness, what of the rest of the universe? Have the events of Total Darkness reached out across time and space? Maybe they have and maybe they haven't. One thing is for certain: the evil that is Skeletor skirted off to space with his Evil Warriors in an attempt to escape questioning at the hands of She-Ra and the Cat Ladies. Now, flying around on a stolen Enterprise, Skeletor faces a new chapter in his life. Read on for more!

Total Darkness: August 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

I can't see. In fact, I'm sure this entry will be riddled with misspelled words and tacky antecedents. The world is gripped in total darkness. It's kinda my fault. I didn't know that Maleficent's dragon figurine was going to usher us into the Stone Age. That's Godzilla's job. I wonder what Godzilla is doing and if he is seeing anyone. I've had a crush on him all summer. I shouldn't even say that because my heart belongs to Michelangelo. I just need to fix this mess with all this evil running amok, and I need to find a way to return to my former body and all will be right with the universe. For now I'm traveling with Batman to head to some generators to try and get the power going for the city. I think it's a lame idea, but what do I know? Anything is better than this. Anything.

And now with the toy heroes trying to rally together to stop this madness, the story of All My Toys continues in Total Darkness!

July 2014 Bodacious Baddie: The Conference of Evil- Part 1!

Previously on All My Toys...

Miss M died at the end of 2013 courtesy of a plot devised by TNA wrestler Velvet Sky and Hordak. After briefly living in the After Life, Miss M made a deal with Maleficent. The dork girl would get to return to Earth and live, if she could find an old dragon figurine from Maleficent's childhood.

Back on Earth, and in the wrong body, Miss M tried her best to explain to her loved ones that she was indeed the real Miss M. No one believed her. She did however find friendship from Bruce Wayne. A new deal was soon made, that if Miss M could find the dragon figurine, Maleficent would completely fulfill the wish and allow Miss M to return to her original form. Only Miss M sat on her hands and went on a slew of other adventures before eventually finding the dragon figurine in Bruce Wayne's Archival Room; of all places.

No longer content to wait, Maleficent gained control of the After Life and spirited away to Earth in the form of Superwoman, hoping to find Miss M and her dragon figure. Now, the Conference of Evil is upon the world, and Miss M is trapped inside Bruce Wayne's Archival Room trying to find the dragon figurine. Can she make it? And will she finally be reunited with her body? Or will Maleficent bring upon a dark curse across the world? Read on for Part 1 of the Conference of Evil!!!

Miss M Presents: Countdown to Evil!

Dear Diary:

The world has gone mad. No truly, it has. I can't make sense of anything. The Conference of Evil is merely a few days away. I don't think I'll be attending. Last year was a mess since so many bad guys wanted me dead. The funny thing is that they totally got their wish. I'm here though, alive and trying to find my way back into my old body. My biggest goal is to break into Bruce Wayne's Archival Room and borrow the dragon figurine in there. Notice Diary, I am using the word borrow. I don't plan on stealing. Just a simple borrow. That can't be that bad of a thing, right?

July 2014 Heroic Hottie!

With the world gearing up for the Conference of Evil in a number of days, the women of All My Toys find themselves busy with work. April O'Neil is giving Megan Fox a few lessons on how to portray the intrepid reporter for the big screen debut of the possible Oscar contender- Ninja Turtles. Meanwhile, Maleficent (disguised as Superwoman) is in a tail spin after seeing her own movie released by Disney. Also, Miss M (trapped in the body of Moth Lady) found the elusive dragon figurine that she needs to return to Maleficent in order to be reunited with her former body. The catch is this: the dragon figurine is locked deep within Bruce Wayne's Archival Room which is locked tighter than Fort Knocks.

But who cares about those stories right now! It's time to drool over some dream boat hunks! Click below to find out what the men of All My Toys are up to!

Miss M Presents: April Vs. April!

Dear Diary,

So I thought I was a collector, but apparently my collection is chump change compared to Bruce Wayne's massive set of items from his Archival Room. He has everything. Since he has been healing from his wounds, I use his security cameras to spy on what's in his room. All while he is napping of course. He has so much stuff! I think eventually I'll cover it all. Until then, I'm just continuing to try and find what I can. I'm also hoping that I can find my way back to my old body. That would just be really nice.

A Box of Cool

Well, it has been awhile since I have just talked about toys and not involve them in some sort of soapy melodrama. I hope I can still remember what it's like to just talk about toys. Oh, who am I kidding, one never loses the art of good toy talk. So click the link below to see just how gracious and kind Kal, from the Canadian Cave of Cool, was by sending me some truly remarkable toy items.

Happy 4th everybody!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy 4th of July. I hope that you are all having a nice day. I also wanted to just say hi and see how everyone has been doing. A great deal has been going on this past week. For instance, I got bangs to hide my giant forehead that you could project a movie off of-

I like having some form of bang, especially after getting a little older. It makes me look less harsh and ghostly.

I also was out of town last weekend with my mom. We had a girl's weekend getaway which we have not done in ages. It was so nice! We got our toes done and we just had a nice time. As a result I have been way behind on posting but I am happy to report that I have now completed my responses to all the kind comments that you have left in the last couple of weeks. I just get so behind. It drives me crazy because I am trying to manipulate time and make the days longer, but nothing is happening yet.

Also I want to thank Kal from the Cave of Cool and Derek from the Goodwill Geek. They both sent me lovely packages of items that I have been meaning to talk about because the packages were filled with some amazing stuff. So a big thanks to those guys and I'll be sharing that soon.

I also went ahead and got one of those fancy schmancy phone apps with special effects for pictures! I have been having the best time, it's like the perfect way of cheating with my pictures. Not that I condone cheating. Cheating is incredibly wrong. But here are some of my pictures that I have been playing around with.

My first picture was this effect on Butterfly from Kenner Shimmers. It seemed really cool, but I felt this effect was best suited for someone else.

So I ended up using this one for the Shimmer. I think this is just so much fun. And the app is easy to use too.

My love for this fire burst effect had to be used on She-Ra, my ultimate hero. It looked ok with this vintage one, but it was missing some fun pizazz.

So I simply did a new picture with Bubble Power She-Ra! I think this is a great representation of the Princess of Power. I really have the best time with this star effects app, so be expecting more photos like this in the various toy stories.

Speaking of those toy stories, it is now July and we are getting closer to the Conference of Evil. I am planning on emailing those of you interested very soon with the guidelines for participating in the One Shot toy stories. We still have plenty of time because nothing is happening until after SDCC. So, if you are still on the fence about being a part of this epic sized toy story, email me at missmermista@gmail.com to be added to the list for the guidelines. This is going to be a lot of fun. I hope you are all doing well and again, Happy 4th of July!

June 2014 Woman of Wonderosity!

Dear Diary,

Sometimes in life, there are things that go your way and then there are the times when things go completely awry. As of this latest entry, things are going well. Bruce Wayne and I have been getting along famously. It's nice to be needed. With Alfred still in the hospital, and Bruce all laid up in bed following that morbid attack by a giant roach, I am the only one capable of helping to care for him. He has even asked me to do his Batman work, like making sure the Batcave is in tip top shape. I get to use his cameras to look in on people and make sure they are ok. It's really great. He also really believes me. Oh Diary, he believes me when I say that I am really Miss M. It's nice. Now I just need to find that pesky dragon figurine for Maleficent. I've been searching on eBay for awhile now, and nothing. I even went to Craig's List, but all I could find was a group of people dressed as dragons looking for a 5th for toy torture, whatever that means. Ah well, I need to get going. I must check on Bruce.

June 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

It's been a minute since Batman was nearly killed at the hands of the Roach. I've been playing nurse. That sounds much sexier than it really is. I had to help Bruce stitch the gaping wound on his stomach. There was blood and guts everywhere. Luckily there are no pictures to chronicle this grody moment in my life because I have been trying to forget it. Also, Bruce is a nice patient. He sits around and reads the paper. I bring him food and regale him with tales from my life in my old body. He acts funny whenever I talk about my love for Michelangelo. I guess he has problems with a girl falling for a Ninja Turtle. Had someone told my younger self that I'd be madly in love with a Ninja Turtle I would have scoffed, but like I always say, the heart wants what the heart wants. Anyways, I need to get back to helping Bruce. Alfred is still in the hospital and there is a lot of work to be done. Of course, before my work, Bruce and I are going to listen to our favorite radio show After Dark, hosted by Sydney Rutledge! (editor's note: Sydney is none other than the Swans Crossing rival of Mila! Readers will remember that Mila is annoying and is sisters with the vile Velvet Sky!) Anyways, I am off again Diary.

Happy Father's Day!

Ok, so I know it is a bit late to be posting this, but I wanted to wish you all a Happy Father's Day for all the dads and those celebrating dads today (or rather yesterday by the time this gets posted.) I was working, but after work I went out with my parents and brother to celebrate my dad. It has been a rough weekend because my dad lost a dear friend earlier this week, so there has been a lot of mourning. It's been a sad weekend, but I did want to mention my dad on Father's Day, so you know the drill, click the link for more!

June 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary,

I'm still a lifer inside Arkham Asylum. I mean, you really get used to it. In fact there is a formal happening right now. I took a break to freshen up and try to look presentable in a new dress. It isn't couture, but it has a certain flair. My hair is in perma-crimp mode still so there really isn't much I can do with that. Not that it even matters. At the end of the day, I'm still stuck in the wrong body and I'm living inside Arkham Asylum. I find myself wondering about my friends from my old life. And even Roach from my brief stint living under a bridge on Main Street. He might have been an insect, but he wasn't that bad. Oh goodness, it doesn't matter. I need to get back to the formal.

See ya!

Miss M Presents: Assault on Snake Mountain!

There's a battle brewing in Snake Mountain. Fresh off their search for clues surrounding the death of Miss M, the Cat Ladies ambushed Snake Mountain to get more answers from Skeletor. Of course at the same time, She-Ra and Wonder Woman had their own ambush ready for Skeletor as they were looking for the pirate called Sea Hawk! One for suffering fools, Skeletor rolled out some of his Evil Warriors to squash the uninvited guests. So let's see how this all unfolds!

Gearing Up for Summer!

There are some really cool things that go on during the summer. There are all those really cool (and sometimes not-so cool) summer movies. San Diego Comic Con happens in the summer. I try to exercise in the pool in the summer. And Diary of a Dorkette celebrates its birthday in the summer. I know I said awhile ago that the Diary would be turning four, but I got my years wrong. It was my failed marriage that was about to turn four, the Diary will actually be turning three. (Don't worry about the failed marriage part, I'm actually doing really great. I find myself smiling more and I've gotten to surround myself with the best people in the world.)

Anyways, let's get to the point. I've been teasing about something fun happening this summer that will involve all of you, and I am now ready to divulge what that is! I have been very fortunate to get to know some amazing people through this blog, and I want us all to celebrate the Diary turning three by everyone busting out their toys and joining in on a fun story.

For those just tuning in, I have been telling this silly goofy story involving a toy version of myself and all the toys I have in my collection. It originally started out as a single monthly "interview" called the Heroic Hottie. My original plans had been to lovingly poke fun at the idea of ogling male action figures. This was in a response to a person who had typed in a forum about how he only collected hot female figures. I thought the idea of basing a hotness to an action figure was so silly that I just had to write up a silly string of Playboy-like centerfold interviews where the beefcake was all plastic all the time.

This all turned into something much bigger as I expanded upon the Heroic Hottie interviews and added Bodacious Baddies and Women of Wonderosities. It was all meant to be a way of reviewing and looking at action figures in a fun way with nods to the defunct ToyFare (one of the greatest magazines of all time.) Anyways, last year there was a subplot in these interviews that revolved around a group of toy villains plotting my death, which is where we are at now. Toy Miss M died only to come back in the wrong body and now she is trying to find her place in the world as the evil Maleficent pulls the strings.

This is where you all come in. Starting in July, there will be a series of interviews that will create a massive event that will need a lot of one shots to go along with the main story. Since you all know I love a good comic story, I want to continue that 'feel' but with everyone posting their own toy story on their own respective blogs.

Some rules will apply. The story will have to take place within the events that are going on (this will all make more sense once the event is revealed.) But everything else will be up to you. Take pictures and write your own story. Or animate your own story. Or record your own story. It doesn't matter, just have fun with your toys! If you are interested in being a part of this crazy crossover of epic toy proportions, please email me at missmermista@gmail.com and let me know that you want to be a part of it. I know things might seem murky right now, but trust me, it will all make sense. Just email me if you are interested.

These one shots will begin after the Conference of Evil, which will occur the weekend of SDCC. That's right! The Conference of Evil will be happening again this summer. If you missed that story last summer, click here to catch up. (Since toy Miss M couldn't make it to SDCC, she ended up attending the other big convention that weekend, the Conference of Evil.) Ideally these one shot stories will be rolled out throughout July and into August. I haven't created official dates yet, but I want this to be a really fun event that will go through for a handful of weeks. More details will be coming out. I just wanted to share this with you all and get to see who will be interested in participating. So don't forget to email me at missmermista@gmail.com. I really hope that you guys will want to join in on the fun with me. Let's play with our toys gals and guys! I hope you are all doing well, and keep it here! I will be posting more stories soon. There's a lot of action going on at Snake Mountain and that Spring/Summer formal at Arkham Asylum can only get heated up with the Joker now foot loose and fancy free. Bye everybody!

May 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Dear Diary,

Ok. So here's the latest scoop. I'm still in Arkham Asylum. I have no idea when I'm getting out. It really sucks. I have made some new friends though. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy took some getting used to at first, but they aren't so bad now. Sure Harley goes on and on about her Mr. J and Ivy rattles on about plant facts ad nauseam, but it really is nice. Jean Grey also stops by for visits from her stint in super hero rehab on the first floor. The rehab floor is pretty cool. The patients there aren't treated harshly like the criminally insane floor. They have a spa and there's the underground mall. Plus they get to go to group therapy and actually have someone listen to them talk about their problems! I have been trying to get someone to listen to my problems for months. Who knew I just needed therapy? Anyways, I guess this is where my story will end. Arkham Asylum isn't that bad. I can see myself growing old here. I'm in control of Moth Lady's body and I know I'll never find this silly dragon figurine that Maleficent keeps talking about. Plus, I think there is even going to be a spring formal where the women will get to mingle with the men. Maybe this is where I'll end up finding my next great love. After all, Michelangelo is never going to love me looking like this. Oh well Diary, I'm out!

May 2014 Woman of Wonderosity!

Dear Diary,

I'm having to write this entry in chalk on the bathroom floor of my padded room. I'm locked up in Arkham Asylum and they won't give me any writing utensils. I don't even know where I should begin. My heart aches for Alfred. I can only hope I have not hurt him. Well, it was not really me, it was Moth Lady. She regained control of her body and I slipped away. But only for a few moments! I feel her slipping into control more often now. Oh Diary, I am so scared she will regain her consciousness. And then what will become of me? I can't cease to exist! My story is only just beginning! There's so much I want to do still. Instead I got shipped to Arkham Asylum. Oh Diary. It's pretty bad. The people who have rooms on my hall are... interesting. I just want to go home. I don't know how much longer I can take it inside... Arkham Asylum!!!

May 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary,

So apparently living at Wayne Manor is the best thing ever. Alfred makes amazing breakfast. His egg-less omelets are perfect for a girl like me that loathes eggs. I didn't even think an omelet could be egg-less! And Bruce, well, Bruce is a real peach. I mean who knew Batman could be such a gentleman?! I've gone from the After Life, to living under a bridge with a roach, to now guest staying at the Wayne Manor! And Diary, I think I might actually tell him the truth. The whole truth and nothing but. I feel like he would believe my crazy journey and understand that I am trapped in the wrong body. He is willing to give me a chance and that's all I've ever asked for. My goodness, it was only a few days ago that I was ready to just jump off a bridge and end it all. Now I have hope. And I have Batman to thank. Of all people! Anyways Diary, I have to get going. I can smell breakfast cooking and it smells divine!

Miss M presents: After Evil!

As toy Miss M navigates a return to life in the body of Moth Lady, something far more sinister unfolds in the After Life. While we patiently wait for the next round of interviews for the month of May, let's check in on what diabolical plot twists are occurring in the After Life. For those not in the know, the evil Maleficent escaped from beyond the evil side of the After Life and has been up to no good. She tricked Miss M into returning back to life to find some mysterious dragon figurine. One can't help but wonder what that could possibly be about...

Now We're Playing With Power

Ok, in the race to make this past week less insane, I have been continually behind on everything. Have no fear though, I am working on some wonderful little stories that are sure to help the month of May go by with a ton of fun before the heat of summer threatens to drive us all crazy.

Before I get to all the wonderful stories I want to share regarding toy Miss M and the evil that Maleficent does, I wanted to share with you all something I have been wanting to talk about for days now.

Most of you are probably aware of the Kickstarter campaign for the IAmElemental action figures for girls that seeks to be one of the coolest toy lines for girls (and even boys) of all ages. If you are not familiar, head on over to the Kickstarter page and read up on it. You can click here to learn more. Go on, head on over and come right back. We'll talk in a bit.

All right, you saw it right? Did your mind just explode with the awesomeness that Julie and Dawn are trying to accomplish?

As a female collector this is a toy line that I so want to see made and sold in stores. I love the idea of an entire line being made of female action figures that are waiting for their stories to be told. The design and look of these figures are amazing. There is plenty of articulation for a 4 inch figure and there is even hope that they will expand the line and add 6 inch figures eventually. (Which I would personally love.)

Just look at this line up!

I want them all.

I like the colors used for each figure. There is a nice super hero feel to this line. These figures look like they could be a part of the same team or could even exist in a world where everyone has this look to them, and it is the designated element that they already have within themselves that makes them special.

The Kickstarter campaign has successfully met the goal, and there is still a good number of days left to pledge. I am pledging to this action figure movement because I want to see these figures made. IAmElemental has partnered with the design group from Eleventyplex (they make some really cool stuff) so these are poised to be some really exceptional figures.

I also like that this line exists not just for girls but for boys too. I am a strong believer in kids of all ages getting to play with whatever toys they want to. I love the idea of a toy store never having to worry about a blue or pink aisle, that it can just be one big section of imaginative fun for everyone.

Of course, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that lines that are traditionally aimed at the "pink" aisle are booming right now. My Little Pony, Monster High, and Lego Friends are highly popular toy properties. I can't help but imagine that this line is going to continue that level of excitement and celebration while also bringing something new to the idea of what girls want to play with.

Don't get me wrong, I love fashion dolls and doll hair, but I also like the idea of a toy line expanding a person's imaginative experience. If I had children I would want them playing with this toy line. I am a firm believer in people creating their own stories and expanding their possibilities and innate resources. My goodness, anyone who has read at least one of my toy interviews knows I love jumping into a good story.

So check out the Kickstarter for IAmElemental as well as the actual website IAmElemental. I think you will be thrilled. And if you already know about this, let's talk about it! I am dying to talk with you all about this. For example I personally love the Honesty Element, those wings are so cool. But I also like Fear and Persistence. I am not sure I can pick a favorite, and this is only the first series! Oh goodness I love collecting way too much.

Anyways gals and guys, I wanted to mention this bit of information. Stick around though, I've got some wonderful stories typed up. They are simply awaiting the process of pictures and all that fun stuff. I will share some hints though about upcoming plot points:

Toy Miss M finds herself settling in quite nicely at Wayne Manor.
All is not well in the After Life.
The May 2014 Heroic Hottie might be late for his interview.
The May 2014 Woman of Wonderosity might be the only one to help Miss M.
And there might be some major drama and action unfolding during the May 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

This is all leading up to the event of the summer that will find me relying on all of you for help in all the fun! So stick around. Hope all is well everybody!

Happy Mother's Day, and other fun things...

Hey everybody! I hope that you all had a wonderful Mother's Day. I was working all day in the cosmetics department so I celebrated Mother's Day Saturday night with my family. It was a nice evening. We all went out to dinner to celebrate my mom and aunt. The actual day was when my grandmothers got together and had a nice lunch at my aunt's house. It sucks that I had to work. But that is life. I was fortunate enough to spend time with most everyone Saturday night.

My mom and I are a pair. One minute we can be the best of friends and the next moment one of us is going all Dark Phoenix on the other. My dad likes to joke that there's too much estrogen flowing between us. I think it is because my mom and I are super close and as such we know how to push each other's buttons. It might have to also deal with the fact that I now live with my parents again and this only means that my mom's premonitions of us turning out like Grey Gardens will be coming true. (I really don't know what to think of that.)

Actually all kidding aside, I am very fortunate to have my mom in my life. We nearly lost her almost 11 years ago to a brain aneurysm. It was a terrifying ordeal and one that I still can't believe happened. My mom is a fighter though, even before all that scary stuff with brain surgery and the works, my mom has been a fighter. She has always done everything in her power to make a great life for my brother and me (my dad too.) My mom is also one of the funniest people I know.

We both have a cackle. And when either one of us starts laughing there is no stopping us. The cackling just goes on and on. She's also really goofy. Don't let my mom's southern belle attitude fool you. She loves nothing more than being a ham.

My mom also believes in thinking highly of her children. Wherever I go with my mom, she insists on telling everyone, "This is my daughter! Isn't she gorgeous?" At dinner Saturday night we got to see a familiar face at the restaurant and all my mom could say was, "Have you met my daughter? Isn't she so beautiful? Feel her skin, it is so soft!" I mean, yes, it is highly embarrassing, but at the same time I feel so loved that my mom says such nice things about me.

I also am very fortunate to have my mom's sister in my life. We call her Auntie. She is like a second mom, sister, and best friend. Their mother is my Nana and my dad's mom is just called Grandmother. All of these women are so important in my life and such a source of strength. I love them and even though I wasn't there for them on Mother's Day, I think about and celebrate these great women all the time. They inspire me and I hope that if I ever have children of my own one day, that I will continue to pass along the love and strength that I have received from them.

I could go into other topics and issues about this weekend and Mother's Day, but I won't. I will say though, it is hard being single again. Now that my husband is no longer my husband, I find myself still sad and grieving over the loss of my in-laws that I no longer see. I communicate every once in awhile, but it is hard. I also am reminded (as with most family functions) that the life I thought I was building is no longer there. I don't know if I am going to have a family of my own one day. And that makes me sad. However! Don't cry for me Etheria! I truly am going to be fine. I have so much love around me and I am inspired by the love of so many other people. I love seeing other people happy and full of their own family stories. It gives me hope, and that is truly what keeps me going.

So, I want to share some photos of the "moms" in my life. Most of these are from a few years ago, so enjoy a non-toy set of pictures! (I don't do this often, but I know that some of you enjoy seeing this other side of me. So enjoy!)

Generations of some cool women! (Me, my mom, my Nana and Auntie!)

See what I mean? My mom loves to be goofy!

My brother, mom, and me! Wearing our sunglasses at... daytime!

I think she was on an important phone call...

Totally goofy, and that is why she is a beautiful person.

My Auntie! Her real name is Marsha. But even when I am 76, she will always be Auntie.

My grandmother (dad's mom.)

My grandmother hates taking pictures, but I think she is really photogenic.

This is my mom's mom. I love that she believes with all her heart that women of a particular age must go blond.

And here we are again! I believe this was Mother's Day 2012.

Anyways, enjoy the photos and get ready folks! I have some fun stuff in store. Toy stories are going to heat up and I will be posting something very soon about a way in which you all can participate in a big event coming up this Summer! Stay tuned and I hope you are all doing well!

April 2014 Bodacious Baddie!

Previously on All My Toys...

After her fall from the After Life right into the body of Moth Lady, Miss M has been on a journey to convince someone that she is indeed the real deal. Of course her entire reason for returning to Earth was to find some mysterious dragon figurine for Maleficent, so maybe that plot point will get wrapped up eventually.

In other news, a renegade group of powerhouse females calling themselves the Cat Ladies are trying to solve the mystery surrounding Miss M's death. Their sleuthing skills have led them on a trip to the sewer in search of the Rat King. In similar sewer news, She-Ra has been looking for her friend (and maybe secret love) Sea Hawk. With the help of Wonder Woman the two women have found out that a fellow by the name of (wait for it) the Rat King might know where the pirate is at.

Also, Miss M found the perfect chance to prove her existence and love to Michelangelo at a fancy fundraiser to save the Wii U. The goal: true love's kiss. That act of desperation totally backfired and in an attempt to end her sadness and the mental war for control over Moth Lady's body, Miss M threw herself off the side of a mountain. So now, let's see if Miss M is ready to embrace the After Life once more!

Miss M presents: Save the Wii U!

Dear Diary,

I'm sure you're tired of reading this diary, but I died and came back to life in the body of Moth Lady. I know, why must I always repeat this in entry after entry? But what if some dork from the future finds this diary and flips to this page out of all the pages I've written in and they have no clue what is going on? What then diary? What then? They must know the truth. That I died in a sewer explosion. My cute little self was blown to bits by the devious wrestler Velvet Sky and I lost the love of my life. That's all about to change though diary. After making a deal with the devil, er, Maleficent, I returned. And though Michelangelo still doesn't believe that I am who I say I am, he will. I know he will be attending the posh fundraiser to save the Wii U from extinction, and I am going to use this as my chance to get him to finally realize that I am back. I just hope that the mental space I am sharing with the real Moth Lady won't muck things up. It's really hard to share a body with a villain. Especially when said villain lives under a bridge and is friends with every insect known to humanity. Goodness I could just curse Maleficent for this. Totally just curse her to the moon and back.

Trolls! On Easter!

Hey everyone! Happy Easter for those who celebrate. And for those who don't, enjoy a nice chocolate egg with peanut butter in it. I've been eating a lot of Easter candy lately. Part of it is due to work. We've had baskets full of eggs filled with candy for customers at my job in the department store. And... we kinda keep forgetting to offer the eggs to customers and instead have been eating Nestle Crunch and Butterfinger eggs. I feel like I could turn into a rabbit at any minute.

April 2014 Heroic Hottie!

Dear Diary,

Living under a bridge with a pet roach is draining. The food is rotten. Literally. I'm still trapped in the body of Moth Lady and her inner psych is still trying to kick me out. I miss my old friends when I was alive the first time and in my original body. I know I was returned to the living by Maleficent in hopes of finding some silly dragon figurine, but Maleficent's wishes can wait! She tricked me and now I walk through the shadow of the valley of poverty and take a look at my life and realize: it sucks! The only thing I've been able to do for now has been to stalk, lovingly, the former people in my life. In fact, I think that is just what I'll do. I'm going to lovingly stalk Michelangelo and see what he is up to. Maybe he'll realize the position I'm in and just love me, love me, say that he'll love me. Oh diary, help me. I really miss music. Of course, living under the bridge means I get to dance to the sounds of the local discotheque where the music is loud and drunken brawls practically occur every night. I miss civilized life. Oh well, farewell for now diary!

The Photos of Grayskull Warrior!

Ok everybody, it isn't exactly breaking news that I am obsessed with She-Ra. I have been since I was little. She represented everything to me. She was kind and caring full of strength and beauty. She was the hero, a reason to believe that anything in life was possible, that I didn't have to tie myself to train tracks or trees in the hopes that my prince would swoop in and rescue me. I could rescue myself.

One of the things I have enjoyed since the advent of the Internet is that I have been able to read about and even get to know other fans who are just as obsessed with She-Ra and He-Man. Every She-Ra fan has their own way of honoring the coolness that is the Princess of Power. With places like He-Man.org, MattyCollector, FaceBook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, and on and on, there are many creative outlets for fans to share in their love for the most powerful woman in the universe.

I recently got a smart phone and since then I feel like I have unlocked secrets to the universe that everyone else already knew. Instagram has become one of my favorite places to stop in and visit. There are so many interesting and fun photos to peruse and like. Wonderful stories can be told with just a simple set of photos. I adore what Instagram is capable of.

While doing my searching, I came across a fellow POP fan by the name of GrayskullWarrior. His photos instantly drew me in and I spent hours pouring over all the great images of He-Man and She-Ra that he had posted. I also came across a series of images he took involving the vintage POP toy line with some added special effects.

After trading some comments, GrayskullWarrior mentioned that it would be perfectly fine to post his series of vintage POP toy photos on the Diary. I was more than happy to do so! Without taking up anymore time with typing, let's check out these awesome photos taken by GrayskullWarrior!

Wave 1

She-Ra
We'll start with She-Ra. This picture is so cool! I love how the effect on her sword really looks like the power of Grayskull is flickering off the blade. Also, pay attention to the way the toys look. GrayskullWarrior has taken some great care of these items!

Bow
It's refreshing to see a put together vintage Bow. I have since lost some of the luster on the Bow I had growing up, but this picture really does justice to everyone's favorite archer.

Catra
Meow! The whirling red special effects look menacing for this jealous beauty. They look almost like flames coming from the ground in the Fright Zone or something.

Glimmer
What can I say? This picture is everything and the kitchen sink. I can't even begin to express how utterly cool this picture of Glimmer is. She is doing more than just lighting the way. She is zapping off beams of light aimed at the enemies known as the vile Horde!

Kowl
He is a cute know-it-all owl, isn't he? The special effect next to him also has a Light Hope feel to it. It's so pretty!

Angella
One of the more interesting toys from the line, Angella has a look that is drastically different from her cartoon version. The streams of energy around her seem to brighten her up, making her very angelic.

Frosta
The ice theme with this picture is cool. Literally! It's like shards of ice appear in her footsteps. I also like that in these photos, GrayskullWarrior added effects that really compliment these toys.

Castaspella
The ring of energy around her disc gives the whole thing an electric movement! I love this photo so much. I also like that this Castaspella has the variant boots! My vintage Casta has boots that are completely cream, while this Casta has the bolt strip fleshed out on her thigh high boots. Very cool.

Double Trouble
The hair looks great on this Double Trouble. I also like that the special effect looks like shimmery beams of light trying to bring the spy out of the darkness! A very interesting figure, I look forward to the release of Double Trouble in the Masters of the Universe Classics line later this year.

Wave 2

Starburst She-Ra
No she does not come with the yummy chewy candy, but this She-Ra variant did come with a colorful cape with a starburst effect. The dazzling light effect in the upper left corner also helps bring out the starry feel of this figure.

Scratchin' Sound Catra
Another variant, this version of Catra continued with a feline theme. The effect blends well of course, and I really like how her hair looks. All of the images here feature the POP toys with some pretty awesome hair.

Mermista
My ultimate favorite She-Ra toy. I want this picture hung on a wall in my room. I think the effect and look of the figure is just everything. There is so much movement and grace. I can't get over this picture. I'm also loving her hair. My vintage Mermista has certainly had some twists and turns with her hair style, but this Mermista looks lovely.

Perfuma
She's scent-sational! The green light effect looks like plant life. Just a stunning image. This is also my favorite version of Perfuma. Her skirt and blooming flower on her back look very pretty.

Sweet Bee
From space pilot to He-Man's crush (and Frosta's sudden rival) Sweet Bee was a real honey. This photo is bright and shiny. I almost expect her to buzz around in the air.

Flutterina
Speaking of flying in the air, check out Flutterina! The purple special effect looks like glittery pollen. These photos are just magical. They all look like the figures are ready to begin their fight for the Great Rebellion.

Peekablue
A subdued image, the special effect is sparkling at the bottom, while Peekablue's glorious feathers do all the work. She is another figure I am looking forward to in the MOTUC line.

Entrapta
She looks fresh from a teleport from the Fright Zone and into the Whispering Woods. This is how a villain should look: drenched in gold with killer hair.

Wave 3

Netossa
A rarity in the world of POP. Netossa has always been one of the more cooler figures to me. I love her cape. There is a lot going on with this figure that makes her look like a true blue warrior. I love the swirling blue special effect too! A truly captivating photo!

Spinnerella
Well here we go! The rarest of the rare! The dizzying defender known as Spinnerella! Some feel she is just a straight up repaint of Flutterina, but this figure looks nothing like Flutterina. She has a look all her own and it never gets old either. This rare She-Ra item can go for hundreds to even thousands of dollars in some instances. What I wouldn't give for a time machine to take me back with a purse full of coins. Oh well, at least we have this stunning picture from Grayskull Warrior.

Shower Power Catra
One of the more interesting sounding names for a figure, Shower Power Catra is another rarity in the world of POP, though not as rare as Netossa or Spinnerella. The smoke effect is really cool too. I can't help but wonder if Catra was putting out a fire with her shower power weapon.

Bubble Power She-Ra
We started with She-Ra, and we will end with She-Ra. This was the third She-Ra variant and one that translated into a great MOTUC release. I love this picture because of the bubbles. That is just so cool and a really great use of the effect.

That's it for the photos. I wish the original vintage Star Sister prototypes had been made, because there is no doubt that GrayskullWarrior would have captured some amazing images of them too.

I can't express enough thanks to GrayskullWarrior for agreeing to have his photos posted on Diary of a Dorkette. He is a very cool guy and I am looking forward to what he shares with everyone next.

For those who are interested in his work, head over to GrayskullWarrior's Flickr album, full of great shots of vintage and new He-Man and She-Ra items. GrayskullWarrior also posts photos on FaceBook as well. (His MOTUC photos are amazing.) Also, if you are on Instagram look him up under GrayskullWarrior.

In fact, look me up too! Diary of a Dorkette is joining the 21st Century and is now on Instagram. I make it sound like there's a team working together to post stuff, but it's just me. I've actually enjoyed joining Instagram. Anyways, a big thanks again to GrayskullWarrior. I hope that you all enjoy these photos as much as I have. Take care everybody!

Surprise! You're 32!

Hey everybody. I've been on a bit of a role recently with talking about my personal life on Diary of a Dorkette. Really the whole kit and caboodle is personal, even those silly toy stories. Either way, in the near four years that I have been writing here, I have never once mentioned my birthday. Well... that is about to change.

Spoiler alert: it gets real dorky! (In the best way possible)

March 2014 Woman of Wonderosity

Previously on All My Toys...

Miss M finally found love with Michelangelo, the party Turtle. Her love was cut short though as her life ended in a sewer explosion courtesy of the wrestler Velvet Sky. Bent on revenge for an article written a few years ago on the extreme blog Diary of a Dorkette, Velvet Sky sought the ultimate revenge from Miss M's quick wit.

Dead with nothing to do in the After Life, Miss M made a twisted deal with the vile Maleficent and returned to Earth... in the body of Golden Girl villain Moth Lady. Now living under a bridge with a pet Roach for a friend, Miss M must find a way to find someone to believe her before the real Moth Lady regains control of her conscience. Struggling with a war in her mind, Miss M merely wants to find a way back to her old life.

Meanwhile, April O'Neil, reporter and journalist extraordinaire and ruler of Diary of a Dorkette has tried her best to continue the fine journalism of the Diary after the grave loss of Miss M. With the help of old friend Irma Langinstein, April can only hope that the Diary will be saved before it is shut down for good...

Miss M's Life is So Square...

It's time for an all new topic for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers! This week's topic is a lovely photo assignment!

My life in one square foot.

Now this sounds like a fun topic! Click below to check out my life in a square foot.
