I'm Falling For Geeks

Or rather, I'm falling for the Geek Fall Out Podcast that is! Click below to read more!

Ok, as most of you know by now, I hate my voice. I've been told I sound like a Disney villainess. I've been told I would make a great phone actress... and that's just some of the stuff I've heard. I mean, I'm not a big fan of my voice. So why on Etheria would I ever decide to join another pod casting experience? It's like someone being afraid of the ocean and then jumping into the water by Amity Island. It just seems like you're flirting with danger. However, when Chris Lockhart asks you to be a co-host on the Geek Fallout podcast, you don't say no!

After my guest spot on the Nerd Lunch podcast I truly thought that would be it. I had a blast guesting on Nerd Lunch and afterwards I was able to say, "Ok, I've done that. I have something new to add to my life experiences." I never in a million years would have expected to be asked to join a podcast. I am so thankful for this experience, and the episode is up and ready. I join Chris and co-founder Richard Rehder as well as Brian from Pop Pop..! It's Trash Culture for the 51st episode. You can check it out here.

It was a really fun episode. There's a lot of cool stuff discussed including some news bits and a top five that you have to hear to believe. Plus there's talk of some cool movies coming out very soon. Please check it out and enjoy! I am very thankful to Chris for asking me to be a part of this experience. One of the things I enjoyed about both of my two podcast experiences thus far are that I got to actually talk to people I have admired and followed for awhile now.

This whole collecting community is so interesting. I enjoy the friendships I have made and to have the opportunity to talk to people that I follow and think are just the nicest people, is just really awesome. It's like finding kindred spirits. I was so thrilled that Brian from It's Trash Culture was a part of the 51st episode. I have often imagined that he lives down the street from me because I have read his blog for awhile now and his sense of humor and taste in movies is something I like. The whole thing lends itself to a cool experience where this person that I have emailed or commented with is actually having a dorky conversation with me. It's very cool and it never gets old. I don't usually do well with making friends. I have my very close friends in my personal life, but I am proud to say that I have gotten to know some amazing people on the Internet that I would call my friends. And it's not just from the Diary. I'm a very lucky gal. Through my experiences with NERDSociety and Retro-Daze, I have gotten to know some really awesome people. I even have friends in Canada! (How cool is that!? Me, a simple southern belle from Texas talking with people from all over the world! That's just mind blowing.) This all means the world to me because when I first started writing this Diary I had no idea that a single person would be reading let alone commenting and getting to know me. I only wish that I could talk to all of you in person or on a telephonic device. I appreciate each and every one of you, more than you could possibly know.

I do not mean to sound like a sappy mess, but I am honest in saying all this. It is an honor to have these experiences in my life. After the disaster that was 2013, I never thought I'd be having such a great time in 2014. I hope that you are all doing well and having a great week. Stick around! I am working on a fun post for the League of Extraordinary Bloggers as well as the March 2014 Woman of Wonderosity, which will hopefully continue in the fun zaniness of toy Miss M and her misadventures.

Also, check out the Geek Fallout podcast! You might eventually hear me do my Catra impersonation! (Now who wants to jump into shark infested waters with me?) Take care everybody!

  3. As long as we get to jump a shark while we're there, I'm all in.

I appreciate your honesty sentimentality and am pleased that 2014 is building up to be better.

    1. lol Yes! Jumping sharks sounds like a dash of danger and a whole lot of fun. lol

I'm glad you appreciate my honesty and sentimentality. Sometimes I feel like I will come off as corny or silly, but I can't help it. lol How are things with you? I hope that things are going really great.

    2. I admire your openness, its something that isn't easy to pull off. Its very different from "frankness".

Well since you asked, I finished up my big project at Nickelodeon this past Wednesday and I'm just waiting on the A-OK from my Art Director to actually show off what I've done.

So that means I have more free time to invest in future League posts and get back into my personal projects. However it also means I may have to start hunting for newer paying job prospects.

At least the snow has finally melted, just in time for April Shower season. Oh the irony!

    3. Yeah there is certainly a difference between being open and being frank. I feel like sometimes I might say things that could be frank if read the wrong way, but I never write with the intention of being anything other than sincere. Sometimes with a smile and a wink, but I always hope I sound sincere.

I'm happy to hear that you finished up your big project! That is awesome! I can't wait to see what you have done!

Free time is always a good thing. I look forward to some more free time too. Also, the weather can't seem to make up its mind in my neck of the woods either. It's either raining, warm, or cold. lol It'll work itself out. Hopefully.

  5. You do a Catra impression!? Awesome! I can't wait to hear it! Your voice is kind of lower register than Melendy Britt, so it will be interesting to hear your version.
And I don't think you sound like a Disney Villainess. Just a teacher! Which, come to think of it is far scarier than sounding like a Disney Villainess!

    1. I certainly do a Catra impression! I can't do like a whole conversation as her, but I do have some phrases that are totally Catra. I might get the courage to do it on the podcast. Maybe. lol

Just a teacher! lol There is nothing scarier huh? lol

    2. Hmmm..well, I'm scared of oatmeal! Or maybe I'm just grossed out by it. And teachers could be not scary, if they were you, I suppose, but most of my teachers were not that awesome-I did have a hot math teacher in high school, but I hated the subject so much it made me dislike her..OK, I still wanted her anyway. But I disliked her life choices! haha!
Anyway, I can totally see you playing She-Ra dolls, and doing the voice of Catra and She-ra! Did you do the voices when you were a kid when you were playing?

    3. lol I think I'd be a fun teacher, I would never want to instill fear in anyone.

I did do the voices of my She-Ra toys growing up. I'd also pretend that Catra was turning into her panther form and I'd run around on all fours like a panther screeching like a wild cat. Catra was certainly a fun toy.
