Dreams do come true...

...sort of. Let me be clear, many dreams go up in flames and smell worse than Stinkor. But every now and then a dream can come true that is just exciting because it brings with it a feeling of something different.

So as many of you know there has been a limited series Masters of the Universe comic put out by DC comics. It has been decent for the most part. I have enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it was the best story ever told.

Anyways, the MOTU comic is coming back as an ongoing series in April and thanks to a special leak by MTV Geek, there is an all new variant cover for the first issue. Click here for the full scoop, but also feast your eyes on the variant cover:

Can I just say, I have long waited and hoped for She-Ra to appear on the cover of a comic for a very long time. I never thought I'd see the day. Granted this is a variant comic and not the regular cover, but it gives me hope that I will get to see more She-Ra and other POP related comic covers in the future. The artwork looks great and it leaves me craving some images of Catra and other fabled POP characters.

I know that there are some really talented artists in this world that have created some stunning She-Ra images, but it is just nice to see an official release of something. I feel like this could be something really great for She-Ra and all her fans! (And maybe even new ones?)

Anyways, I just wanted to share this, because I am quite excited about it. So I am done. I have to get back to my special interview with this month's Heroic Hottie! Take care everyone.

    1. Well I'm going to try JB. I have a feeling this one will be in the true essence of a variant. Sometimes variant covers are easy to come by, but knowing the Cosmos, I will be in for a search. lol

  2. If you are a good person and wish hard enough then you might just get what you hope for. I hope it lives up to your expectations.

    1. Thank you Kal. I hope so too. I mean it won't be the fun soapy adventure of Adora's Search for Honor or anything (I am sooo humble lol) but I am sure it will be really good new series.

  3. How long has this series been going on? I thought it was just coming out and hadn't debuted yet? This is what happens when you don't have a good comic shop around where you live.
I subscribe to Justice League -which is where I found out about the new MOTU series, in an ad-but I have to go to Borders to buy most of the DC books I get -and they have a lot of comics, like even weird genre ones-that is where I will pick up issues of the Dark Horse Spike comic and stuff, but I still haven't seen any MOTU comics there or anywhere.

    1. Really? For the last few months there has been a limited 5 or 6 issue run of a MOTU comic story by DC. It was just a limited series and I guess it did so well that they decided to expand it into a longer series that is starting up soon. I sometimes get my comics from Barnes and Noble too whenever something has sold out at my comic store.

  5. Aside from the 6-issue mini series, and the upcoming ongoing series, there's also the 8 issue digital series. She-Ra and Etheria star in issue #8 of the digital series - which serves as a direct prequel to the events of the new ongoing series.

If folks want to, they can subscribe to the ongoing series directly through Mattycollector.com. And the digital series is available on dccomics.com or comixology.com.

    1. Oh thank you for that Mykan! I forget about all the ways that folks can get these comics. I will just be subscribing at my comic store, but there are for sure other ways for purchasing. And I have not read all of the digital series, but I did read the one with Adora/Despera. I am really glad they will be continuing off from that story!

  6. Did you get this issue yet? It took me two days of hunting down every comic shop in my city to find it, but I finally snagged one yesterday. I really liked the Secret of the Sword-type origins that are unfolding and the re-imagined character design is really interesting. I'm hoping that Dodson will draw a POP variant cover for each issue. None announced yet though :\

    1. Hey! I did get this issue, though not the variant cover. I got the regular cover. The story is interesting, I like the look of Despera/Adora and I like that they are using the Secret of the Sword story, there are some things I did not care for though, like Teela disrobing in front of her father or some of the dialogue, but all in all I will be reading to see what happens next. I really really hope they do more POP covers! That would be the best.

    2. Yeah I don't know why they keep trying to turn Teela into an overly-sexualized character. She always seemed tough and no-nonsense to me, so all these attempts to make her into this tantalizing seductress just seem off the mark. Now if that scene was with Frosta and He-Man it would have been really funny. I'm fine with mature themes in all these revamped 80s properties, but only when it makes sense and doesn't seem forced.

    3. I agree. I can certainly handle mature themes, but it has to make sense. It would have been funny with Frosta, but with Teela it just seemed desperate. But I will still read for now because I am very curious to see where the story goes.
