Dear Diary,
Halloween is here. We've all been counting down and here it is. I can't believe it Diary. April is throwing a huge Halloween party at the office. This is the biggest party of the year. So huge in fact that there will also be a wedding! I'm just thrilled. Actually, I feel slightly bad. I tried playing matchmaker with Franken Berry and Elsa from the Bride of Frankenstein, but their love is so syrupy sweet that it is not safe for breakfast. I plotted with the Riddler to get them hitched so that they can face a world of boring matrimony and the world can go back to normal. I'm not a bad person, am I Diary? Sure I have my motives, but I'm just trying to bring order back to the world again. Oh well, I'm off. I've got to get dressed for the party. I can only hope that April is doing all right with getting things set up...

Countdown to Halloween courtesy of Pop Pop..! It's Trash Culture!
A few weeks ago I participated in a giveaway from Pop Pop..! It's Trash Culture. Brian always has these great monthly giveaways that are really fun. Actually take the time to stop by It's Trash Culture and look around. I enjoy his sense of humor and his tastes in trash. He knows his stuff and I have come to really enjoy catching up on his posts.
So this month the giveaway was a special "Trash 'r Treat" giveaway. The entry into the contest was simple enough, merely leave a Halloween related comment and the winner would be picked. Well dear readers, I was the lucky winner from this contest so click below and check out the items that Brian sent over. It is the perfect Halloween loot ever.

Countdown to Halloween with the October 2013 Bodacious Baddie!
Dear Diary,
Halloween is near. My teeth are chattering with the sugars. Folks are wearing costumes at the grocery stores and restaurants, like it is all common place. (I'm not even talking about children, these are grown folks with some impressive costumes.) It's driving me crazy because I have yet to find what I'm wearing to April O'Neil's Halloween Party of the Year. Anyways, I'm rambling just a tad too much. I need to find a book on love since Franken Berry and Elsa have been inseparable. It's kinda scary how fast they have fallen for each other. My matchmaking skills are just on point. Right? Diary, help me make sense of this!

Countdown to Halloween Edition: October 2013 Woman of Wonderosity!
Dear Diary,
I'm feeling electric. Positively electric. Or is it eclectic? Crap. I don't know which word I'm trying to use and it doesn't really matter. I've been running around like a fool for love. As Madonna once said, I believe in the power of love. As a result I've been trying to play match maker to quite a few folks. Everyone deserves a special Halloween romance, and with the holiday almost here, I fear I might fail in my efforts. Enough of my problems though, I'm sporting a possible contender for the perfect Halloween costume ever, and I need to settle in with a meeting with my mentor and friend: April O'Neil. Someone has been sending her bedazzled black roses and buckets of Halloween candy. I smell romance, and it is sweet!

It's a strange thing how the world can be. If there is ever anything I need to know I merely need to log on to Twitter or Facebook. It was Friday that I logged on to tweet about the Heroic Hottie when I saw a tweet from PixelDan that Lou Scheimer had passed away. I could only stare at my screen before replying with a tweet of my sadness.
For those who do not know, Lou Scheimer was one of the founders of Filmation Studios and essentially the face of Filmation. He was behind many wonderful live action and animated shows that most of us grew up on. He was of course attached to He-Man and She-Ra.
I want to share some reflections of this man. I never met him, our paths never crossed, but what he helped to share with this world forever changed me. Mattel may have created the She-Ra toy line, but it was Lou and Filmation that brought her to life. (Among other various characters.) There are of course many Filmation shows I enjoyed watching when I was younger, not to mention finding out about others as I got older, but She-Ra was the one that stuck with me and has always had a special place in my heart.
Growing up the only thing I really knew of Lou Scheimer was his name in that magical cursive signature across the television screen before the end of the She-Ra opening scene. I knew that his name was a stamp of approval, that what I was about to watch was going to be wonderful. It wasn't until I was older and I saw interviews or read articles about this wonderful man that I truly learned more about him.
He loved his work and the fans that continued to watch, never content to let go. There was such a fondness for what he had done with Filmation. He loved these characters and the people who all worked together to bring the work to television screens. I also loved hearing him talk about his family. There was so much love and care in his words. To watch all of this, to hear this man talk so joyfully about these topics along with a character that I still love so much, it was just magical. So upon hearing of his passing, I am sad. My heart goes out to his family, a family that continues to discuss and share in his legacy. With my sadness is also a sense of celebration. I want to celebrate and honor Lou Scheimer and his legacy. He leaves behind so much for all of us as well as future generations to enjoy. And enjoy we will. I hope you are all doing well. Take care everyone.

Countdown to Halloween Edition: October 2013 Heroic Hottie!
Dear Diary,
The smell of pumpkins is in the air. I saw a man purchasing a Jabba the Hutt costume at the store. I'm actually in love with that commercial where the family is trick or treating and they are dressed like Star Wars characters, and the dad is dressed as Jabba the Hutt while his baby daughter is hanging on his chest in that bikini Princess Leia outfit. It is beyond cute. I also recently bought some mousse. My hair has never looked better. It's this Herbal Essence volumizing stuff and I just feel so confident, like I'm ready to take on the world. Ok. Maybe I'm rambling. I actually should probably get going. I'm in the office and April O'Neil needs to talk to me about this month's Heroic Hottie. See ya later when I'm curled up on the couch with General Hospital on in the background.

Countdown to Halloween, with Halloween Events!
With October already in full swing (have you seen the pumpkins swinging from the trees?) there are a few wonderful things to talk about regarding Halloween events.
A Halloween Special is going to be shown in the RetroDaze Public Domain Theater on October 17th 8:00 PM EST. This will be on the RetroDaze site. One of the RetroDaze contributors (Vaporman) told me about it and it seems like a really cool event! All you have to do is register at RetroDaze and click on the "Theater" link in the navigation box. You will then click "Buy Ticket" to enter the Theater (the ticket costs nothing.) I am very curious to see what this will all be about. Head on over there as it is a very cool place. Here's a promotional image to whet your appetite!
Ok so scenes from Roseanne, Jem, and Punky Brewster are more than enough for this to be one beyond fun Halloween Special!
Speaking of events, who here likes contests? Over at ThEpic Review, there is a 2013 Halloween Grab Bag Contest! Click here to read all about it. There are some fun prizes (3 in all) and the contest runs until Oct. 28th. There are a few ways to enter the contest, so remember, head over to ThEpic Review and learn more! I'll give you a hint about some of the prizes, one involves a Series 1 SLUG Zombie, the second item is a mint Legends of Batman Catwoman figure, and finally (drum roll please) there is a brand new 1966 Classic Style Batman figure from good old Mattel! I think you really should stop reading and head over there, like, yesterday.
But don't really go just yet! I have one more Halloween Event to discuss (for now.) I was invited by ThEpic Review to contribute to a very special post that will debut next Friday (Oct. 11th.) I've been working on this for awhile now, and it will be a major crossover event featuring Miss M (The toy version of me) and some surprise guests. Don't worry, toy Miss M won't be turning into the next Wolverine and appearing all over the place, but this event next week will hopefully be super entertaining! Also, if anyone has any Halloween Events that they would like me to share with everyone, please feel free to email me at missmermista@gmail.com. I am more than happy to post any upcoming fun events for Halloween. Take care everyone!
Updated! I must add one more thing! There is another Halloween contest going on, and it is brought to us all by the Sexy Armpit! Head over to the Sexy Armpit to learn about this Halloween contest and check out the items. There's a bit of something for everyone, so don't delay! Entering is easy and well worth it. I'm totally off this time because it's late and I want some cake. Hope you are all doing well.
